I have discovered my favorite family vacation spot.....the beach!
In August we took the kids to Newport Beach.
We have never been on just a "beach trip". We usually go to Disneyland - and hit the beach for a day.
This time we decided - no Disneyland - just the beach.
It was heavenly!
We did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING....except sleep in, swim, and play at the beach.
Perfect I tell you!
I wasn't so sure if my kids could be entertained all day long at the beach. They seem so high maintenance at times - and always need to be "going".
I was so wrong.
We had to drag them home from the beach - literally!
They dug, boogie boarded, searched for crabs (they had incredible tide pools), built sand castles, and did it all over again and again.
Brandon took all of the little kids boogie boarding on his back!
We even went to an Angels game - and made it through the entire game - including the fireworks! (After the first inning - I was sure we would never make it past the 4th inning....lots of hot dogs, cotton candy, slushies, and treats were the trick)
Went shopping at Fashion Island, rode the ferris wheel at Balboa Island, swam a ton - and relished in relaxation!

Halle: Seeing the dogs at the pet store (funny huh...they were so cute!)
Braden: Playing at the beach
Ava: Filling my diaper up with LOTS of sand
Brandon: Boogie boarding with the kids on my back
Shalice: Sitting on a beach chair while watching my kids happily entertain themselves!
Best vacation ever!

looks like a fun trip. we have stayed at that newport marriott a few times and i love it. and who doesn't love fashion island??? did you go to sprinkles? you have a darling family.
We are totally jealous!! We have been just dreaming of the beach this year! Such cute kids!
Oh I'm with you.. beach is the only place you can spend 8 straight hours with little kids to big kids and not have them say.. I'm bored....

I am just now catching up on all of your fantastic vacation posts. I am completely jealous of the fun summer you had with you little ones. Fantastic memories you are creating for them. Superstar mom!!! And by the way...a darling mom as well.

Those were a lot of really great pictures. I love the beach. Up here in Washington it isn't called the beach, just "the coast" since it is usually to cold to be what people imagine the "beach" to be. But we still go and the kids still get soaked. . . in pants and and all. We own a lot of Seaside and Long Beach sweats! One would think I would learn to come prepared.
And despite the coolness we still have to drag our kids away too.
